The grand finale. 186km from the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea. Bohinjsko Pass through Triglav National Park, past Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj — two of Slovenia's most stunning glacial lakes. Then the long descent through the Soça valley, crossing back into Italy, through Nova Gorica and Gorizia, arriving in Trieste on the Adriatic coast. From 2,864m peaks to sea level. The journey ends where the mountains meet the Mediterranean.
Slovenia's most iconic sight. A glacial lake with a fairy-tale island church at its center and a medieval castle perched on the cliff above. Surrounded by the Julian Alps, it has been drawing visitors for centuries.
ISLAND CHURCH / CLIFF-SIDE CASTLELarger and wilder than Bled, Lake Bohinj sits within Triglav National Park. Less visited, more raw. The emerald waters are fed by alpine streams and surrounded by untouched forest and towering limestone walls.
TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARKThe final passage through Slovenia's only national park. From the alpine heights of Bohinjsko Pass, the route descends through the emerald Soça valley, one of the most beautiful river valleys in Europe.
SOÇA VALLEY / JULIAN ALPSA city of Habsburg grandeur on the Adriatic coast. Twenty Giro d'Italia stage finishes have ended here. Where the mountains finally surrender to the Mediterranean. The perfect end to an alpine odyssey.
