Lienz sits at the confluence of the Isel and Drava rivers in East Tyrol. Known as the "Sun City" for its Mediterranean-like climate, it offers a calmer finish after the Dolomite brutality. A medieval castle watches over the town from above, and the surrounding peaks of the Lienz Dolomites frame the valley on all sides.
